3 Winter Cocktails for Your Holiday Party (That Are Just As Easy As They Are Delicious)

You’ve made a batch of treats, bought those last minute gifts, and now it’s time to kick back with a cocktail and enjoy the holidays. Which is where we come in – if you’re looking to relax with something festive then we’re here to help. I’ll let Zach (our resident chef and wellness guru) take it from here.

Every great holiday party deserves some delicious cocktails. Whether you’re looking for something warm and cozy or sweet with a boozy punch we’ve got you covered!

Mulled Wine

  • 1 bottle red wine (I used a Malbec)

  • 1/4 cup brandy

  • 2 blood oranges, sliced

  • 1 naval orange, sliced

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 2 tbsp whole cloves

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

In a pot, combine all ingredients except for one blood orange (save for garnish). Simmer on low heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure honey is fully dissolved. Don’t let it heat to a boil, I like to have the heat on a 1 or 2 out of 10. Remove from heat and serve either warm or room temp. Garnish with sliced blood orange.

I love this recipe for a party because it’s so easy to make a big batch. Sometimes I make it a day ahead of time and really let the flavors steep in the wine. You can double (or triple) the recipe to make sure there’s plenty for all of your friends!

minty hot chocolate

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 3 cups whole milk

  • 10-12 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped (6 oz for the hot chocolate, the remainder for garnish)

  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 cup peppermint schnapps

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Candy canes for garnish

In a sauce pot, bring water to a simmer. Whisk in cocoa powder until well mixed. Add milk, sugar, and 6 oz chocolate and simmer until chocolate in melted and it forms a smooth mixture. Stir in peppermint schnapps and reduce heat to low until ready to serve. In a medium bowl, whisk heavy cream and vanilla until it forms soft peaks. Serve hot chocolate garnished with whipped cream, chopped chocolate, and candy cane.

Who doesn’t love hot chocolate in the winter? This adult version will keep you warm and cozy! If you don’t love peppermint schnapps you can sub in Bailey’s instead.

cider bourbon punch

  • 6 oz apple cider

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • 6 fresh cranberries (save 3 for garnish)

  • 2 pieces candied ginger (save 1 for garnish)

  • 1 cinnamon stick for garnish

Pour cider, bourbon, 3 cranberries, and 1 piece candied ginger into cocktail shaker with a small scoop of ice. Shake well and strain into a glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, cranberries, and ginger.

I love bourbon, especially in the winter when it’s cold out. It pairs perfectly with the crispness and sweetness of apple cider. The ginger gives it that extra bit of bite that it needs to bring together this perfectly balanced cocktail. If you’re having lots of people over and don’t want to go through the effort of making each one, then mix a big batch in a pitcher and set aside the garnishes for when you’re ready to serve.
