Bobby’s 4 Tips For Creating A Self-Care Sanctuary In Your Bedroom

The last year has been a doozy, and we all need a place to unwind and recharge after a long day (or any day, really). Finding those moments of self-care is more important than ever and one of the best rooms to fully decompress is definitely the bedroom. Sure, it’s where you catch some zzzz’s, but a bedroom can also be a real self-care sanctuary too. So to get you and your room feeling a bit more restorative and zen (with some of my favorite new products that drop February 28 from the new Levi’s x Target collection) here are my tips to help you put the bliss back in your bedroom. 


So where do you start when thinking about a self-care space? You’ll want to ask yourself – how do you want to feel when you are in your space. An easy way to help you answer this question is by thinking about the materials and colors that are most soothing to you. For me, blue has always been a color that evokes a sense of calm – whether that is the ocean, a rainstorm, or a clear sky. So we took the tonal blues that are infused in this collection and let them serve as the foundation for the rest of the room.

Rejuvenate with a well-made bed


Self-care starts the minute you wake up in the morning (hopefully after a good night’s rest). So outfit a bed that’s cozy, comfortable –and casual enough that you’ll want to crawl right in! No need to get overly fussy with your bedding – it should be inviting not tucked so tightly that it looks and feels restricting. Opt for bedding and pillows in a tonal color palette (that will keep things from feeling too busy, while still feeling interesting) like ivory tones and soothing shades of blue. No self-care space is complete without a place to really kick your feet up and relax – like a comfy seating area that’s ideal for reading, relaxing, or just taking a moment for yourself. If you do one thing for yourself each morning it should be getting out of bed, moving yourself to a comfortable spot, and having a mindful moment to set some intentions for the day. So creating a little nook for yourself within your bedroom is the perfect place to allow you to do that. Start with a stylish place to sit – like this sherpa butterfly chair. (It’s also ideal for small spaces since it easily folds up.) Then pop in a stylish side table to keep your favorite novel or cup of coffee within arm’s reach, and a lamp for easy reading. And of course, every good nook needs a blanket and ottoman so you can really put your feet up and let your cares drift away.




REFRESH  with natural elements


There’s nothing quite like nature to transform your mood from sullen to totally serene. A bit of greenery has a scientifically proven ability to make us feel better, so consider bringing the outdoors in to really give your sanctuary a sense of calm. Layer in as many plants as you like (the more the merrier, as they will also help purify the air), while varying the size of pots to increase the visual appeal. Don’t have a green thumb? Scenes of nature in art like you see here or faux plants are the next best thing!






HYDRATE with plenty of water 


Treat yourself to some nourishing care- one glass at a time. Staying hydrated is one of the best ways you can optimize your wellbeing from the inside out. So be sure to keep a carafe of water next to your bed for whenever you’re feeling parched before bed or when you first wake up in the morning (64 ounces of water a day is recommended to keep you feeling your best).
