Today marks the second full week of the BB team working from home, and as always we want this site to be a place of respite during all of this. A place to be inspired and come to for refuge. We could all use a little inspiration, especially in a time like this. So we’re back with the best bookmarks of the week, sharing the spaces, places, and products that can hopefully bring a little bit of joy to your day.
This week we’re showcasing three homes that are not only well designed, but also beautiful and soothing spaces. From a cozy and collected home in Texas, to a family loft in NYC, to a warm and eclectic abode in Amsterdam. We’ve also got shoppable products to help you get through this time of social distancing, from a grown-up puzzle to inspiring reading, to products to help you get (and stay) comfortable at home.
Scroll down to see everything we’re sharing this week. And if you need a little more inspiration, click here to follow us on Pinterest to see everything we’re currently loving.
Texas Size Charm
They say everything is bigger in Texas. But sometimes it’s not about the size, but what you do with the space you have. This Austin home makes the most of its square footage, with lots of clever solutions for opening up spaces and streamlining storage. Designers Amity Worel & Co. added a wall at the entry to create a drop zone, which in turn created shelving for a library nook in the living room. With lots of colorful art and a very cool mural in the powder room, this home not only looks great, but also has Texas-sized charm.
Putting Together The Pieces
If the idea of doing a puzzle seems a bit dated, you haven’t seen this puzzle. Designed by Areaware, it features a very cool gradient design that looks perfectly at home in a modern interior (and comes in 8 different color combos). So why not entertain yourself and add some style to your space?
Now more than ever it is important to support the small businesses in our local communities and online. One of our favorites, Jayson Home who we featured in my Office Reveal is offering 20% off this weekend (Sunday & Monday) on everything on their site. If you are local they can offer curbside pickup and if you are shopping online they are shipping things out immediately with what stock they have. If you can, please support these small businesses through online purchases or gift cards so that we can help them to get through all of this.

A Light-Filled Loft
Making an industrial-style loft into a family-friendly space was no problem for designer Jean Lin of Colony. She took a concrete-clad space and filled it with a mix of modern furnishings, eclectic art and cozy spots for kids and adults alike. A balance of hard and soft is achieved through a massive stone island (that’s actually embedded into the floor) in the kitchen, with lots of soft and textural elements in the living room. But our favorite space has to be the bright yellow bathroom (complete with a yellow tiled soaking tub)!
For even more inspiring spaces, check out the book Live Beautiful. Filled with enviable interiors (including that of author Athena Calderone) it’s perfect for escaping into some amazing homes for a few hours, without leaving the comfort of your couch. Sounds like a beautiful way to spend an afternoon!
But First, Coffee
If your morning routine of picking up a coffee from the local barista has been replaced by… walking into your kitchen, maybe it’s time to upgrade your equipment. We love this french press, which comes in a modern splatter finish with a handsome wood handle. It’s a great way to bring some design into your daily coffee, and will look just as good on your counter when not in use.
Besides upgrading your your morning cup, we’ve got lots of other solutions for working from home. Check out our post Working From Home: How To Make It Work For You.
Organic Modern in Amsterdam
Nothing excites us quite like a space that combines neutral colors, natural materials and lots of great design elements. This Amsterdam home, designed by Avenue, does just that, combining a modern aesthetic with more rustic white brick, wood and green colored marble. With one soothing space after another, this home was made for relaxed and refined living.
With our social interactions limited and plans being canceled, now is the time to get cozy at home. If you’re snuggling up on the sofa for some much-needed entertainment, try adding this soft and stylish throw for another layer of comfort. If you want a piece that can easily transition from at home workout to comfy loungewear, try these fleece jogging pants. And there’s nothing like a linen robe to keep you looking cute and cozy while cooped up.
