Happy Fourth of July! While things are looking a little different this year, we’re still wishing you all a safe and relaxing holiday. And to kick off the long weekend, we’re sharing our usual bookmarks, with a focus on inspiring American interiors and some of our favorite new products.
Today, we’re sharing an eclectic Brooklyn apartment, a colorful country house in Connecticut, and a modern wood-dwelling in Wyoming. We’re also highlighting a powerful documentary, how to celebrate the Fourth of July safely, and our favorite new products.

Blending Styles In Brooklyn
What do you get when you combine a pre-war Brooklyn apartment with modern, rustic and eclectic style? A space that defies categorization (and just looks gorgeous). Designer Delia Kenza blended lots of elements to make this space unique, sticking to a mostly minimal palette with hits of color and bold black accents. We especially love the swirly tiles she added to make the simple kitchen really stand out.
A Powerful Documentary, Welcome To Chechnya
We highly recommend watching the eye-opening new documentary Welcome to Chechnya on HBO. The film tells the story of a group of activists risking their lives to confront the ongoing anti-LGBTQ persecution in the Russian republic of Chechnya. Warm Wood in Wyoming
With floor to ceiling wood paneling and an enviable wooden setting, this home takes natural to a whole new level. Designed by architecture firm Olson Kunding in the popular ski town of Jackson Hole, the modern space is filled with inspiration and clever solutions. Most notable are the sticking wood shutters, operable by a pulley system, that can be opened and closed depending on the changing weather conditions.
A Different Kind Of Fourth of July
Because of the Coronavirus and social distancing regulations, Independence Day is being celebrated quite differently in 2020. While many public fireworks displays have been canceled and large gatherings discouraged, you can still enjoy the holiday through virtual events or smaller gatherings. CLICK HERE for tips on how you can celebrate the holiday safely this year, and the CDC guidelines for hosting a gathering or cookout.
Country Home, Modern Style
When it comes to country homes, this one is anything but conventional. Designed as a home for the founders of the architecture firm Stonefox, (and built from prefabricated structures) it resembles a modern black barn from the outside. But inside, it’s a light-filled and modern space full of colorful furnishings and unexpected details. Juxtaposing the quiet country setting of Litchfield, Connecticut with an interior that would look at home in any urban environment, the designers have taken this country home to a whole new level.
