Bobby’s Fashion Fix: Monochromatic Olive (And How To Get The Look For Under $100)

You don’t often see a whole room, or outfit, in just one color. But this spring, we’re embracing going tonal from head to toe. Our newest fashion fix is all about a monochromatic look, and going green – olive green.

Taking inspiration from Military style (think fatigues, flight suits, and army jackets), along with more casual and relaxed silhouettes, this trend is about making a statement without being overly loud. (Olive green is still a more neutral color, that’s more about blending in that standing out.) Whether for men or women, going fully monochromatic in olive is a way of taking this classic color and giving it a modern take for 2020. To get you outfitted in head to toe olive, there are lots of stylish pieces for every occasion. Keep scrolling to see all the shop-able styles (all under $100), along with street style and runway images that inspired the look. And be sure to check back each week as we share even more style-focused content!

We’re giving you plenty of fashionable options to go monochromatic for every occasion. A simple, streamlined dress pairs well with a stacked olive heel, silicone rings, and fun fringe earrings for a more formal feel. For something casual, slip on a silk button-up blouse, easy drawstring pants, a military-style parka and a bucket bag. A one-piece swimsuit, minimal sandals, and a belt bag are a perfect tonal look for a day at the beach this summer.

And if going totally green seems a little too out there, you can always pair a simple white button-up with olive shorts, pants or a skirt for a classic take on this style. Olive also pairs well with most other neutrals – like black, light grey, ivory and browns.

An easy olive tee, comfy chino shorts, sandals, and a bucket hat are more relaxed pieces perfect for weekend wear. While a more structured shirt jacket, linen button-up, cropped pants,  and a streamlined backpack are perfect staples for everyday wear. Throw in a versatile hip pack, sunglasses, and a fabric strap watch, and you’ve got all the pieces you need for an easy olive green update.

Not ready to fully commit to the monochrome trend? You can still use the pieces shown and mix them in with more neutral pieces, like this simple white t-shirt for $6.  You’ll still get the look without being entirely covered in just one color.
