Queer Eye Season 3: Jody – The Makeover & The Reveal

We are back with another recap of what happened during Queer Eye Season 3, and today we are walking you through Jody’s space. Let’s get into it.

We met Jody during our very first episode of Season 3, and what a way to start a season. Living in Kansas, Jody is a self-proclaimed “Country Girl”. She is a “camo-clad goddess who hunts and plants her own food,” but “as confident as she is on the outside, she doesn’t feel this way on the inside.” She is a mom of three, a grandmother of two and wife to her husband Chris. But more than that – Jody was someone that was nominated by her husband to show that being a strong and independent woman that loves and takes care of her family didn’t mean that she had to neglect herself.

Jody currently works at a men’s federal prison, USP Leavenworth, and both her and her husband love everything camo and hunting. Not only do they grow all of their own produce but they hunt and fish for everything that they eat.

Her home was filled with all the things that she loved – hunting, camo, and her family. And when we came in to give her a makeover we wanted to take all of those things that meant so much to her and give them a new look. We kept what meant the most to them, and brought in some new furniture, art, and accessories to give the entire space a refresh.

We made over the living room, dining room, kitchen, game room, and bedroom. Their new space not only reflects both her and her husband’s style, but it’s somewhere that they can continue to love and grow into. “I feel more confident and my husband says I look more striking and vibrant! What a difference five wonderful guys made in my life.”

  1. Hi Bobby,

Just wanted to say that the things you do for these people are amazing. You have an amazing magical gift and it’s just so great that you’re able to share it with those in need. I’m always so inspired by the house makeovers. I only hope to make my house an ounce close to the places you’ve designed. Thank you for truly being a amazing inspiration ❤️

    1. THANK YOU for all the kind words – It’s such an honor to come into these homes and help these people out. I always leave feeling more inspired.

  2. Like millions of others, I’m a huge fan of QE, but especially of you, Bobby. While your quieter style may sometimes seem to be overshadowed by your more boisterous co-stars, I always find myself watching you. From the first episode of the first season, it’s amazed me how well you nail and then visually express each QE recipient’s style. Your intuition and observation skills are beyond impressive. As are you. Huge fan and just wanted you to know – I SEE YOU!

    Love and hugs!

    1. Jenny – I SEE YOU too. Thank you for stopping by and all the sweet words. Hugs and Love right back to you.

  3. Beautiful but for all the dead critters. They are a major turn off.

  4. Love the show, your website – such a fan! You are all incredible beings. This room is gorgeous. Question for those of us in rental units with bumpy walls: How to get a look of wallpaper when temporary wallpaper does not work with the bumps and owners prohibit painting? Keep doing the great work you do in the world.

    1. Thanks for stopping by. Have you tried using temporary wallpaper? We’ve used my tempaper patterns on walls with a bit of texture and it still sticks and works. Grab a roll and try it out and see if that works.

  5. Love Queer Eye I have watched each season 3 times at least. Thank you for being such an inspiration. Your kindness touches everyone- You get into every persons self in every design. I have loved from season 1-4. Jonathan I adore too. Tan I get all the men doing French tuck. Antoni I use your cooking tips x Karamo keep get to the point. x. Bobby the community centre that show for me was really special. I will be back to check out what you wish to share. xxxxx

    1. Can’t wait to have you back Rachel. Thanks for leaving a comment. Sending lots of love your way.

  6. I love all you of guys that compromise the very fitting “fab5” label! Seriously, each one of you is so fun to watch and it makes me just want to hang out with ya’ll! My husband agrees, that watching QE just makes us feel happier and uplifted. Your style, Bobby, is so on point and I just love seeing your creativity in highlighting the individuals you help out. There’s nothing like a home remodel, but the fact that you guys dive deeper and touch on multiple facets of these peoples’ lives makes the reveals so emotional for me. I hope this show continues to be successful and that you and the other guys know how much we are in awe of all of YOU! Keep spreading the love!! We know you can’t help it, it’s who you are.

  7. Hi! I was hoping to find out where the white quilt on the bed came from. I LOVE it!!

    Thank you in advance ♥️

  8. LOVE LOVE LOVE all of your before/afters and so glad you’ve posted some here for us to see more detail, since we don’t get enough time to get a good look on the show. I am excited to see Kenny’s home again — that was one of my favorites. My daughter and I love QE and all of the Fab Five and have been binge-watching all summer!

One question: where do you get most of your plants? Are they fake or real or some of both?

  9. Hi Bobby! I love your work – my partner is a “hunter-type” here in Australia and this space gives me inspiration on how to combine both ourselves into our home. Thank you for being such a joy to watch! Come back to Australia – This time in MELBOURNE soon!!!

    1. I would love to go back to Australia! It’s so beautiful there. Good luck with your new home xx -B

  10. I enjoy the Fab Five so much. Do you ever go back and see how everyone is doing in their life’s.

    1. Yes, I’ve stayed in touch with a lot of the heroes, and follow their lives on Instagram! You can also read about what the season 5 heroes have been up to since the show here. Thanks! xx -B

  11. What a great post! I’ll definitely be saving this for future reference.
