The 8 Tastiest Frozen Foods From Trader Joe’s

Photo: Trader Joe’s

Having a few frozen staples in the freezer is always a good idea. But not all frozen foods are created equal (or truly tasty). Luckily, Trader Joe’s has some excellent options in the frozen section. So I asked Zach to do the hard work of taste-testing a bunch ofoptions and putting together a list of some of his most flavorful favorites.

After rigorous taste tests,(which I must admit were pretty enjoyable) I’ve narrowed Trader Joe’s frozen foods down to a few of my absolute favorites to have around. So grab these the next time you’re out shopping, and I promise you you’ll enjoy them!

Cauliflower Gnocchi

This healthier version of an Italian classic is as delicious as it is easy to make! One bag is just the right amount for two people, or me when I’m really hungry.

How to make it

My suggestion is to sauté it with a marinara sauce and then serve it with some roasted chicken and asparagus. You could also toss it with some pesto and sautéed shrimp!

Burrata, Prosciutto, and Arugula Flatbread

Frozen flatbread can be tough to get right, but they hit the mark with this one. The crust is nice and crispy while the cheese is gooey and delicious.

How to make it

If you want to make it even better then drizzle some balsamic glaze on it at the end. Grab one of their salad kits and you’ve got a full meal!

Chicken Tikka Masala

If you want an easy, healthy meal then this is it. White meat chicken in a rich tikka sauce over white rice. A lot of frozen foods can be a little bland, but not this one.

How to make it

The microwave may be the easiest, but using the oven will taste a lot better. The texture of the chicken will be more tender using the oven.

Brazilian Cheese Bread

If you’ve never tried this then you’re missing out! It’s cheesy bread, do I really need to say more than that?! It has a crispy crust on the outside and is pillowy and perfectly doughy on the inside.

How to make it

The oven works well, but if you really want to crisp up the crust then I suggest popping it into the air fryer on 375 for a few minutes until it’s golden brown.

Cauliflower Pancakes

These are like a healthier version of latkes or a hash brown. They get nice a crispy on the outside while the inside is light and fluffy just like you would want from a good latke. They make a great side to pair with just about any meal. I also use them to make a lower-carb Benedict with smoked salmon and a fried egg on top.

How to make it

I don’t mean to sound like one of those people that’s always talking about how much they love their air fryer, but these are one of the reasons I love my air fryer. Cook them at 390 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

Garlic Naan

If you’re making the tikka masala and really want to step up the meal, grab some of the garlic naan. It’s perfect for scooping up those last bits of delicious sauce!

How to make it

Put it in the oven for 4-5 minutes while you’re cooking the tikka and its ready to go!

Hi-Protein Veggie Burger

This one is for all of you vegans! There are a lot of veggie burgers out there, some better than others, but this is one of my favorites. Not only does it taste amazing, but it’s also one of the healthiest options. Made from pea protein and black beans, you get tons of nutrition in each burger.

How to make it

My suggestion is to heat a little olive oil in a pan on medium heat and saute it for 3-4 minutes per side. Then serve it with either some BBQ sauce or a scoop of their vegan pesto.

Mochi Ice Cream

We couldn’t forget about dessert! Mochi ice cream makes a great option because you can grab a piece and satisfy your sweet tooth. For those that don’t know what mochi ice cream is, it’s a chewy rice dough filled with ice cream and it comes in a variety of flavors. Vanilla is a classic and chocolate peanut butter is amazing, but my favorite is the Thai tea flavor!
