Choosing The Right Ceiling Fan

There are a number of things you’ll want to consider when shopping for a ceiling fan, and Bobby is breaking down his top 3 tips to find just the right fan for any room.

1. THINK ABOUT SIZE & SCALE

The size of your room will help determine the size of your fan. For smaller spaces (around 8′ x 10″), a 29″ – 39″ fan will work best, while larger rooms (up to 10′ x 20′) will require a 42″ – 52″ fan. A higher ceiling height also means you can scale up your fan to provide ample air circulation.

2. KEEP THINGS SIMPLE

When in doubt, choose a ceiling fan that has a more simplistic design and is the same color as your ceiling. It will blend in and visually recede instead of creating a visual focal point. And if you’re looking for a fan with built-in lighting, choose an option with a single light, rather than multiple lights, to avoid a fan that feels too busy.

3. Consider COMPLIMENTARY MATERIALS

You want your fan to feel connected to the other elements in your room, whether they’re architectural details, flooring, furniture, or art. Consider your ceiling fan as another part of your decor, and choose colors and materials that complement (instead of compete) with the rest of the room.
