Easy Way To Get Organized: 3 THINGS, 10 MINUTES
1. When Something Enters Your Home, Give It A Home
As soon as any item enters your home, you want to place it in a more permanent spot (not sitting in a corner or on the counter).
- Place coats, shoes, and bags on hooks, in bins, or in a closet
- Sort through your mail: recycle junk and file away anything else
- Break down delivery boxes and put them in the recycling bin
2. Do A “Flyby” Pick Up
At some point in the day (maybe after kids are in bed), walk around your space and spend 5 minutes picking up anything that isn’t in its proper place.
- Errant toys go in bins or the toybox
- Clothes get placed in the laundry hamper or back in drawers and closets
- Anything out of place on counters or surfaces goes back to where it belongs
3. Fix The Function For One Area
Choose one area of your home that could function better – and make your life easier – with a simple 5-minute organization
- Start small with just a single drawer. Pull out the contents, toss or donate what you don’t need, and place everything back inside in a more functional manner
- Put the things you use the most in the front of a drawer and in the easiest to reach location
- Work your way through a dresser or vanity, then onto a closet, then the whole room, and eventually your whole home.
