INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS for 2025

Checkerboard

Checkerboard patterns have been a part of our lives since we first learned the beloved game – and they’ve been a part of design for even longer. In 2025, Bobby predicts the simple squares will be back in a big way and on walls, floors, fabrics, and much more. There’s something timeless about a checkerboard, and its ability to feel both modern and classic, that makes it an ideal choice for a wide array of interiors. You can also go subtle with a more tone-on-tone checkerboard, or opt for bold contrast black and white.

Spa Like Bathrooms

After designing lots of bathrooms last year, Bobby has concluded that Spa specific design is what we can expect from bathrooms this year. A focus on spa-like amenities both big (soaking tubs, steam showers, smart tech) and small (plush towels, bath accessories, bidet attachments) will offer a much-needed sense of serenity and calm at home. Luxe materials like marble, travertine, and teak are sure to make repeat appearances, and soft neutrals and greens are the color palette of choice. Bathrooms are more than a place to get clean, and 2025 will emphasize self-care and indulgence in this room more than ever.

INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS for 2025

Curves, Arches, and Soft Angles

Say goodbye to sharp, harsh, and rectangular. 2025 is set to be the year of soft, curvy, and rounded. Seating, tables, and storage will be getting a more fluid feel, and gently curved archways will be the entrance of choice. Expect lighting to embrace rounded shapes (including globes and shades), as well as hardware, decor, and even artwork. Simple, sinuous shapes will show up all over the house – so go with the flow and bring a few home with you.

INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS for 2025

Modern Cottage

Cottage Core“, the idea of returning to a simple, rural life, has been a trending idea in design and lifestyle for years. However, in 2025, Bobby sees this trend taking a decidedly modern shift. Modern Cottage style will blend traditional and rustic charm with contemporary aesthetics, and feature natural materials like wood and stone mixed with minimal patterns and neutral tones. Think simple furniture with softened lines, items with a handmade feel, as well as vintage or antique accents – all juxtaposed with clean silhouettes and black accents.

  1. Hello,
Thanks for the wonderful tips. I am struggling to find the right night stands to mix with a beautiful old brass bed from the mountains of Virginia. The room has dark walnut paneling with 80 yr old white pine flooring. The lamps I have are solid blue, not too light and not too dark. The rug is a silk patterned rug of rustic red, blue, gold and tan. The room is small and the bed is a double. I found rustic red end tables at Houzz, but just unsure.
    Thanks so much,
    Sue
