A home-cooked meal is great, but sometimes, even chefs (like Zach) need a break in the kitchen. And when that’s the case, the best thing to have on hand are pre-made meals ready and waiting in the fridge. So I asked Zach to compile all his fave pre-made foods from Trader Joe’s – and show you all his go-to options for a meal that’s ready in minutes!
As much as I love to cook, there are times when even I don’t want to! That’s when a pre-made meal comes in oh-so-handy. And when it comes to pre-made meals, Trader Joe’s is where I turn to. So keep scrolling to see 10 of my favorites that are full of flavor for breakfast, lunch hand dinner.
Sometimes you just need some comfort food, and not much is better for that than a meaty, cheesy lasagna. There’s enough in here to serve two when paired with a side salad, or just me when I’m really hungry.
I know what you’re thinking, a salad isn’t a full meal. This one is. The chili lime chicken and all the veggies will fill you up more than you think. And the jalapeno Caesar dressing is just the right blend of spicy and creamy to bring it all together.
Who doesn’t love some mac and cheese?! The problem for vegans is that it can be hard to find a pre-made one that packs enough flavor and hits the mark on texture. This is the best one I’ve tried so far. If you really want to step it up then put it in a baking dish topped with bread crumbs and turn it into a baked mac.
Roasted Rosemary Boneless Chicken Breast with a Brown & Wild Rice Blend
Skip the meal prep and pack up one of these for lunch. The chicken is already sliced and the rice stays moist and tender even when heated up in the microwave. It’s already in the perfect sized tray so you can just heat and eat!
Chicken Tikka Masala
A rich, hearty curry on top of some basmati rice is not just an easy meal, but also super flavorful. This version at Trader Joe’s is ready in minutes so that you can be sitting down to a meal before you ever start getting hangry.
Roasted Butternut Squash, Red Quinoa and Wheatberry Salad
Speaking of salads, this makes the perfect side salad for almost any meal. The crunch from the toasted almonds, the sweetness of the cranberries, and a drizzle of the honey sesame vinaigrette all compliment each other and bring balance to this salad.
Chicken Sausage Breakfast Burrito
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Just because you don’t want to wake up and cook something doesn’t mean you should skip it. I like to keep a few of these breakfast burritos around for those busy mornings that I want something to take on the go. It’s fine in the microwave, but heating it up in. a skillet will crisp up the tortilla and give it the feel it was just made that morning!
Pulled Pork Tamales
If they would take the red sauce in these tamales and sell it then I would buy it by the gallon! These tamales come still wrapped up in corn husk so you can easily steam them and have a delicious, filling meal ready in minutes.
Chicken Marsala with Mashed Potatoes
This meal will make you feel like you’re sitting in a restaurant eating some tender chicken marsala with creamy mashed potatoes, even if you’re in sweatpants on your couch. My suggestion is to heat it up in the oven to keep the chicken tender and the potatoes smooth.
Italian Style Turkey Meatloaf Topped With Tomato Sauce
Have you ever had friends coming over and realized you said you’d make dinner, but you forgot to actually make something? That’s the time when this meatloaf can save the night! Put it in a baking dish, roast some veggies, and they’ll think you’ve been in the kitchen prepping for hours.
