Miami – Tropical Mid-Century
For this modern high-rise home, Bobby merged Mid-Century design, custom details and lots of tropical touches.
Located on the 39th floor of a modern high-rise in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami, the striking blue waters of Biscayne Bay are on full display in almost every room of this home. So when it came to designing the space (home to a young family), Bobby wanted to work with the stunning surroundings – not against them. The clients also wished to incorporate their love of Mid-Century design. With those two details in mind, Bobby created a design plan he dubbed Tropical Mid-Century. He opted for a palette informed by the surroundings – palm frond green, sunny yellow, pink, and teal – and chose low-slung classic furniture in the living room (so as not to obstruct that amazing view). Terrazzo counters in the kitchen and baths have a retro meets modern appeal, as does the custom millwork through the space (courtesy of The Millwork Lab), including record storage and a stunning curved kitchen island. As for the tropical touches, those came in the form of palm wallpaper in the primary bedroom, lots of beachy photography, and of course, the views of the surrounding water.
