While most of us are experiencing grey days and chilly temperatures, Bobby’s latest design is the perfect antidote for the winter blahs. Located in sunny Miami, this home is colorful, light-filled, and full of Mid-Century furnishings with a tropical touch. So grab your sunglasses – as we take you on a tour of this project!

Mid-Century Miami
Upon entering this home, there is one thing you can’t help but notice: the view! Located on the 39th floor of a modern high-rise in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami, the striking blue waters of Biscayne Bay are on full display in almost every room. So when it came to designing the space (which is home to a young family), Bobby wanted to work with the stunning surroundings – not against them. The clients also had one big request of their own: bring in as many Mid-Century furnishings and details as possible.
With those two details in mind, Bobby created a design plan he dubbed Tropical Mid-Century. He opted for a palette informed by the surroundings – palm frond green, sunny yellow, pink, and teal – and chose low-slung classic furniture in the living room (so as not to obstruct that amazing view). Terrazzo counters in the kitchen and baths have a retro meets modern appeal, as does the custom millwork through the space (courtesy of The Millwork Lab), including record storage and a stunning curved kitchen island. As for the tropical touches, those came in the form of palm wallpaper in the primary bedroom and lots of beachy photography.

A pair of custom pocket doors with circular details separates the kitchen from the dining and living areas.
Custom millwork throughout the home includes wall-to-wall storage for the homeowner’s extensive record collection.

A built-in window seat in the kitchen provides a scenic spot to perch.
Palm frond wallpaper and a beachfront photograph add a topical touch to the primary bedroom.
Terrazzo and pink tile are a stylish duo in the primary bathroom.

As usual fantastic taste! I have followed you for a long time and love your ideas. You do not pickup the most expensive things or the brands selected by the fad designers.
I buy the best I can afford, love the things I have and don’t want to change my house every 2-3 years.
I will take that apartment as is!
Nice job! I loved the reed textured cabinets and the 60s retro .
