We’ve already brought you the full home tours of our Black & Bold and Modern Boho projects, and today we’re taking you into one more space from the Vista Santa Fe community. And this time, it’s all about interpreting Scandinavian design for sunny, Southern California.
Working again with Pardee Homes, the starting point for this project was the simple lines and minimalism that is synonymous with Scandinavian design. And since this space is located in (almost always) sunny San Diego, we wanted to keep the interiors bright, airy, and maintain a strong connection to the outdoors. We chose a color palette of crisp white and grays, along with deep teal and seafoam green accents that would reference nature and contrast with the light tones. And no Nordic-inspired space is complete without lots of light toned wood and modern furnishings and lighting.
To keep things interesting, we used black accents, graphic patterns, and a few unexpected details (blue terrazzo wallpaper and a floor to ceiling wine rack). And since this is Southern California, the outdoor space became a year-round extension of the home, with a wall of sliding glass doors that open to a lounge area.
Overall, this is a home that takes the best of minimal design, adds a touch of nature, and re-interprets it for a light and bright location. Keep scrolling to see all the pics of this luminous space, and to shop the products you need to bring sunny, Scandinavian style to your space – no matter where you live!

Absolutely love these cabinets! What wood/finish are they made of? And what color paint is above the cabinets? I love the idea of an accent color there. Thanks!
The cabinetry is all oak with a bleached finish. The island is painted in Salamander by Benjamin Moore. Thanks for your comment! xx -B
Thanks for the help! And lastly what about the color above the upper cabinets (where a soffit may be)?
Hi Bobby,
Love the primary bedroom walls and the wood treatment on the wall and ceiling. My questions are: what two colors did you paint the walls? And is the grey/.green accent color on the bed wall, the ceiling AND the opposite wall to the bed or just the bed wall and ceiling?
The gray color is just on the bed wall and ceiling (to really accent the wood treatment and create a focal point). We used Simply White and Gray Owl. Thanks so much for your comment. xx -B
