We wash our clothes, our sheets, our towels, and even our bodies. But there’s another item in your home that’s also getting dirty (and you might not even realize it!) Your bed pillows. Why You Need To Do It
Over time, sweat, oil, allergens, detergent, and dead skin cells build up on your bed pillows (yuck). Eventually, they can even become discolored and totally gross looking. So to really wash them, you need to take cleaning to the next level and “strip” them instead. Stripping is simply a more powerful way to deep clean, and remove long-term stains and residue that has built up. It’s not just bed pillows either. Any pillow insert gets dirty over time – and can benefit from this simple cleaning method!

How To Do It
Stripping pillows is a simple and satisfying method for deep cleaning. Here’s how it’s done.
1. Fill your tub up with the hottest water possible. (You can also use a large storage bin)
2. Add 1/4 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of borax, and 2 cups of liquid laundry detergent.
3. Stir, place pillows in the tub, and fully submerge
4. Let them sit in the tub for 24 hours, then squeeze out excess water
5. Place in the washing machine on the regular cycle with no detergent
6. Place in the dryer with dryer balls. (Note – memory foam and down pillows should be air dried).
7. Rest easy knowing your pillows are truly clean!
Experts recommend stripping your pillows every 6 months to keep them truly clean!
