‘Junk or Jackpot?’ Episode 6: Hailie’s Makeover

From Disney figurines to video games, miniatures to records, this season of ‘Junk or Jackpot?”, has seen me work with all sorts of collections. I had a blast helping these collectors organize their items – and improve their homes and their lives! There’s one last episode to recap, so let’s see how I helped this week’s collector pare down their collection and curated new spaces in their home.

In episode 6, “It’s Giving Fashion”, I’m helping Hailie, the owner of a thriving vintage clothing business. In addition to lots and lots of clothing and accessories, Hailie has also been collecting vintage furniture and has acquired a great deal of art created by her grandmother. Between all these possessions, her home was becoming increasingly cramped – and it was time for me to work some magic – and give her a fashionable new home. So let’s see how it all came together.

Pssss. Don’t miss my full recaps of Episode 1 with Patrick, Episode 2 with Johnny & Carlie, Episode 3 with Tonya, Episode 4 with Vivian, and Episode 5 with John and Victoria!

‘JUNK OR JACKPOT?’: Hailie

BEFORE

Hailie’s shoe room is a model of an organized collection! I didn’t need any help at all.

The living room, on the other hand, had been overtaken by racks and racks of vintage clothing (and wasn’t really a spot for much living, relaxing, or entertaining.)

Hailie’s covered outdoor area was a very underutilized space that mostly sat empty, except for a few random pieces.

The former garage had become a dumping ground for all the “extra” items, including bags of clothing, furniture, and artwork.

‘JUNK OR JACKPOT?’: Hailie

AFTER

The living room went from extra closet space to a chic new space for stylish living. New limewash paint and curtains softened up the room, while an array of Hailie’s vintage furniture was used to create multiple seating areas. I also used several of her grandmother’s paintings to bring in a personal touch, and layered in the disco balls to reflect light.

The covered outdoor area was formerly just an underutilized space. By adding in pieces that Hailie already owned – including a dining table and lounge chairs – I turned it into a colorful outdoor entertainment oasis that reflected her eclectic style.

The former garage got the most dramatic makeover. With a fresh coat of blue paint, it was practically unrecognizable! I added a new projector and seating to create a cozy area for movies, and then utilized Hailie’s vintage bar to create a cocktail zone on the other side of the space (complete with a one-of-a-kind zebra bench!) As a special touch, Hailie’s girlfriend also created custom murals on the doors leading to newly created storage closets!

Well, that concludes Season 1 of ‘Junk or Jackpot?’ I hoped you loved the show as much as I did, and you got inspired to curate your collections and create the home you deserve!
