Pull out the tissues, because we’re back with another truly inspiring hero (and makeover) from Queer Eye Season 6. And this week, it’s all about a healthcare professional going above and beyond – and the soothing new space she totally deserves.
We meet Jereka in Episode 6 – “Community Allied”.
Working as a health care professional, Dr. Jereka Thomas-Hockaday has experienced the inequality of the medical field first hand. To help improve opportunities for those with low income or people of color to enter the profession, Jereka co-founded the Central Texas Allied Health Institute, providing accessible medical training. When Covid-19 hit, Jereka also saw a lack of resources and testing for her community and decided to open a clinic. And while she is always doing the most (and not focusing on herself), Jereka still thinks she could be doing more.
Lucky for this deserving hero, the Fab Five stepped in to show her some love, how to let others step in to help, and teach this doctor that self-care can be the best medicine.
For this design makeover, Bobby turned the break room at Jereka’s clinic into a soothing escape and gave her backyard and home office a major glow-up.

what flooring was used in Jereka’s garden….. is it soft or mini stones?? Its gorgeous. would love to know. Would also love if you could give the floor plans of some of these designs??
We used pea gravel, which is an easy option for ground covering for a garden. Thanks for your comment. xx -B
Hi there! I am a huge fan of all your transformations and I was really looking forward to read about this specific makeover and reveal.
I am about to re-do my bedroom and I really like how you transformed the break room at Jereka’s clinic. What style/concept did you go for?
I would love to look for some more inspo, but I can’t pin point the style/concept. Thank you so much!
I would call the break room Organic Modern. I used natural earthy tones, lots of wood, and sculptural shapes to give it a soothing and comfortable vibe. xx -B
Hi there! What are the round footless rattan ottomans used in the outdoor sitting area next to the fire pit?
You can shop the ottomans used here. xx. -B
